Bait Boat Reminder

A message from the Committee:

We feel that bait boat usage on Kingswood Lake is generally working well. However, over the past few weeks we have had to retrieve several stranded bait boats. This is a reminder to all members that bait boats are used entirely at your own risk.

If you experience an issue and require a member of the Blackfords team to retrieve your boat, a £20 surcharge will apply. This reflects the time and effort involved, as a bailiff or committee member must attend the site, prepare and launch the retrieval boat with an electric motor, recover your boat, and then pack everything away. This is not a quick or easy task, especially for one person.

Please also remember that all committee members and bailiffs volunteer their time, often alongside full-time jobs. We ask that you respect their time and commitment to the club.

20 Wrap Rule Reminder

When using a bait boat on Kingswood Lake, the 20 wrap rule must always be followed.

• Distance sticks (set at 12ft) must be used at all times.
• Lines must be properly wrapped and clipped up before using a bait boat

Statements such as “roughly 20 rod lengths” or “I use GPS so don’t need sticks” are not acceptable.

Bailiffs reserve the right to check your distance at any time by asking you to clip up and demonstrate your wraps using distance sticks.

If you do not wish to follow this rule, you must not use a bait boat.

Important Notice

If issues with bait boat use continue, the committee will review the situation at the next meeting and may remove bait boats on Kingswood.

Bait Boats still remain Strictly to ONLY the use of KINGSWOOD LAKE.

Under NO circumstances must any member use their own boat to try to retrieve their bait boat this would void the fishing clubs insurance and could have serious consequence on the committee and club.
