A few months ago the Blackfords committee attended a teams seminar with the Angling Trust, with the main topic based on safeguarding young children and vulnerable people who are apart of our club. The main outcome being, we needed a Welfare Officer, this is a singular person who is a point of contact if any safeguarding issues arise with any of our members.
Our designated Welfare Officer is Darren Hall, one of our bailiffs who has volunteered kindly to take on this role. If you see any problems involving safeguarding please contact Darren on 07711809461. Alternatively if Darren is not available then please message Tom Ponder on 07813475038, who can the pass the information on to Darren.
The welfare of our members is paramount. Remember, a young person is classed as anyone under 18 years of age and an adult at risk is a person who is over 18 years and at risk of abuse or neglect because of their needs for care or support.
Darren’s role as Welfare Officer will to endeavour, on behalf of BPAS, to promote the safeguarding and welfare of children and vulnerably adults in practices that reflects statutory responsibilities, government guidance and best practice protocols as set out in our clubs Safeguarding policy and procedure statements.
