Saturdays encounter underlined the power of Calf Heath and certainly endorsed its reputation as an excellent silver fish venue. Numbers of fish are being caught in all areas of the reservoir but none more so than slabs area on the boat house bank. Nine anglers were pegged from peg 5 to 20 and amazingly they averaged a cracking 30lb per man.Top spot on the day went to Dave Ridgeway, drawn on peg 5 ” The Envelope ” opted for both cage feeder and his favoured pole approach. Catching the bulk of his fish on the latter Dave put together an excellent 57lb 5oz .Finishing just a pound behind in second place was Dan Carter, after sorting out a few initial problems with foul hooked fish he then changed the way he was feeding and he never looked back. Fishing the popular peg 10 Dan did all his damage on pole fished at 13m. Gavin Wyman completed the frame with a creditable 42lb 12oz, utilising both the pole and the feeder on peg 52.
