The start was delayed for Saturdays encounter due to a major incident on the M6 motorway but fortunately all of the 29 man field managed to arrive albeit some later than expected. One angler stuck on the motorway was Kevin Tipton but once he got into gear on peg 61 in the bay he did what he does best and put together a lovely bag of small Skimmers. Getting off to a flying start the sport slowed during the latter stages, however by fishing two lines with his trusted cage feeder approach Kev picked off odd fish until the all out. The Fattys Tackle man was last to weigh in and he posted a pleasing 22lb 3oz for a narrow, hard earned victory.
Nev Bailey snr finished in second spot from peg 50,in contrast to the winner the Blackfords match secretary got off to a fairly slow start .Past experience taught him that patience and timing of fishing his different lines was key and so it turned out as he had a very productive 3rd and 4th hour. Nev finished the match with 21lb 12oz comprising of 1 Bream and plenty of Skimmers. Dennis Kneller completed the frame from peg 80 on the tins with 21lb 2oz. Again patience was key as he waited for the fish to get their heads down. Having drawn the peg several times Dennis opted for both cage and method feeder tactics.
