Calf Heath Match Result 01/06/24

Yet another sell out at Calf Heath and with word going out that the Skimmer sport is so good it has encouraged some anglers to complete 200 mile round trips to compete. Once upon a time you  normally had to look no further than the famous point for the victory  Refreshingly this is no longer the case as there are large shoals of fish feeding in all areas. Top rod on the day was Martin Cartridge with a pleasing weight of 43lb 7oz from peg 65 in the bay. Most of Martin’s catch fell to pole fished at 13m and the quality of  the Skimmers both in size and condition was exceptional. Second spot went to venue debutant John Driscoll, the inaugural feeder masters winner got to work  with the  cage feeder packed with catsters and chopped worms on peg 79 .Some quality Bream formed part of his creditable 37lb 6oz haul .BPAS chairman John Burns secured third place with 30lb 12oz from the next peg 78. Also opting for the cage feeder John caught most of his fish at 16m. Jordan Hall completed the frame with 29lb 15oz of predominantly small Skimmers averaging 3 to the pound . Jordan opted to fish pole all day at peg 49.
