Army angler Martin Cullip certainly brought the heavy artillery as he blew the rest of the field away at what turned out to be a tough day on Kingswood for many of the 26 man field. Drawing peg 30 on the beach Martin only had one plan in mind and that was to fish the pole shallow for Roach. He carried out the plan with military precision catching plenty of small fish for a pleasing 23lb 15oz and finishing well ahead of the rest of the field. Second spot went to Paul Bucknall from peg 41 with a modest but hard earned 11lb 10oz. Paul’s patience paid off as he took a handful of good Skimmers late on. Brian Ashley completed the frame and was only one ounce behind third placed Paul with 11lb 9oz. Brian also caught some quality Skimmers fishing the method feeder on peg 39.
