The Big Common – Leacroft

On a recent session at Leacroft Gary Kuzmicz landed a brace of common’s, fortunately one being the ‘big common’ at 24lb 4oz. This probably sounds low as it was caught by Tom Merchant last October at 28lb 8oz and interestingly this weight was verified by Gary that day, however the Leacroft carp spawned recently and being a female, the common has dropped 4lb in weight which may seem a lot but is not unusual for carp of this size especially if they failed to successfully spawn the previous year. Despite the weight loss the fish looks in good health just minus the belly, which it will certainly regain leading into Winter. The take came on supple hinged rig coupled with a home made heavily flavoured Cell pop up boilie which was fished locked up tight to a Lilly bed.
