Calfheath Match 6th April 2013

April 6th saw 35 anglers line up on calf heath for the monthly club match.

With ice cold conditions greeting the die-hards, all anglers wished for a draw on the famous point pegs.

Mark Greening, Dave Shaw and John Seegrave were lucky enough to draw 53.54 and 55 and were hoping that the practice session last weekend would stand them in good stead.

It was obvious after an hour that the ice cold conditions were making bites hard to come by as anglers all around the lake were struggling.

After another hour news travelled that the point had started to fish with Dave and Mark both catching bream but not big ones as normal.

Chris Brown was also catching skimmers on peg 50 but the tins were dyer with one three anglers out of eight registering a single fish each.

During the remaining three hours the conditions improved as the wind picked up and the sun shone which at least put smiles on the anglers faces as it has been a long time coming,

Chris Brown came out on top with 23-10-0 of mainly skimmers caught on open end cage feeder with sweet flavored groundbait and dead red maggot hook bait.

Second was Dave Shaw with 23-2-0 caught on method feeder and maggot, third place went to Mark Greening with 20-12-0 of skimmers caught on method feeder and boille while in fourth place was Neil Pass with 20-0-0 of skimmers also taken on open ended feeder with maggot.

Dave Morris took the section prize for pegs 35 to 46 with 6-14-0 and Kevin Tipton took the last tins section with 12-1-0.
