Blackfords 20′s Catch Report

Mike 21lb 9ozAugust has been a really productive month at Blackfords on the fishing front with some great match results catching plenty of slivers and also on the carp front with lots of quality fish caught around all 4 lakes, yes thats right all 4 including the Turf!!

Back in July we got the nod from the EA to reopen the Turf, despite the issues we had last year its clear some fish have survived and even thrived whilst the lake was closed! Top left we have a picture of Mike with his new PB of 21lb 9oz caught from the Turf pool only last week, well done to mike, but also great news for the Turf!!

We’ve also had some notable captures from around some of the other lakes, starting with the 20lb 1oz mirror caught at calfheath reservoir by caught long standingDave Powell 20lb 1oz member Dave Powell, oddly Dave caught this carp a few years back and I actually wrote a piece suggesting that one day, this would be a future 20 pounder, we’ll its not that often that i’m right (as the wife often reminds me) but on this occasion I’m glad to say I was! Again this is great news for Calfheath another fish stocked some years back steadily progressing, well done Dave this fish seems to like you!! (Picture right).

John 23lb 8ozWeve also had a numerous 20′s caught from Kingswood, the fish stocked back in 2009/10 are now  hitting the 20lb mark with reports of stocked fish being caught to 27lb and they’re still growing!! Please see left a recently caught 23lb 8oz mirror caught from kingswood lake by one of our regular anglers John, he always seems to get amongst the carp at Kingswood but this one is his best to date, well done John!

Finally I was also lucky enough to get amongst the action at Kingswood, with the capture of this 23lb 4oz mirror taken on a 20mm fish meal boilie, fished at 10 wraps, there are already some 23lb 4oz July 2019cracking fish to be caught at Kingswood and given the growth of some of the fish I can only imagine what the lake will produce in the future!!!

Get yourselves down there and give it a go, its quickly becoming a great lake for all species and it’s best years are certainly still to come!

Tight lines!!
